I love Facebook.  My husband says I am addicted haha.  I always look at crazy videos and posts people share.  I am scrolling through a stream of them when I come across a Book Trailer.  There is a girl talking, saying her ancestor Cotton Mather played a major role in the Salem Witch Trials. When her father got sick, she moved to Salem with her Stepmother Vivian. Weird things start to happen and people start dying.

I added the video below so you can see the trailer I am talking about:

I immediately went to my Audible since I had a credit left on there and downloaded a copy of it.  I literally listened to 10 hours of How To Hang a Witch in two days.  I couldn’t stop listening!  I am a history buff, especially when it comes to the paranormal.  Salem, MA is actually on my bucket list of places to visit.   Adriana Mather mixed all my favorites into her book: Romance, Suspense, Paranormal and History, so of course, I am addicted.  To make this book even more awesome did you catch Adriana’s last name? Mather. Yup, our author is a 12th Generation Mather from the Salem Family. Her Family also has history in the Revolutionary War, The First Thanksgiving and even the Titanic.  How interesting would it be to speak to her and her relatives?

Summary:

Salem, Massachusetts is the site of the infamous witch trials and the new home of Samantha Mather. Recently transplanted from New York City, Sam and her stepmother are not exactly welcomed with open arms. Sam is the descendant of Cotton Mather, one of the men responsible for those trials and almost immediately, she becomes the enemy of a group of girls who call themselves The Descendants. And guess who their ancestors were?

If dealing with that weren’t enough, Sam also comes face to face with a real live (well technically dead) ghost. A handsome, angry ghost who wants Sam to stop touching his stuff. But soon Sam discovers she is at the center of a centuries old curse affecting anyone with ties to the trials. Sam must come to terms with the ghost and find a way to work with the Descendants to stop a deadly cycle that has been going on since the first accused witch was hanged. If any town should have learned its lesson, it’s Salem. But history may be about to repeat itself.

My thoughts on the Audible Version…  The audio book was really good.  I LOVED that Adriana herself was the Narrator.  Who better to read it than the creator of such an addictive novel? There are no sound effects which I am satisfied about.  I don’t need all that extra in my head.  She clearly changes her tone so we know exactly which character is speaking but not in an annoying way.  When she hits a new chapter she tells you and the name of the Chapter.  The audio is about 10 hours give or take, but honestly if you are a bookworm like me you could read this book in less time.  It has a good flow to it and there is never a boring part.  The best part though is at the end… She tells you a bit about her history and tells you how she ended up writing the book.  The only downside to the book?  The suspense.  I am one of those that is hard to surprise in that department.  Unfortunately, Ms. Mather did not surprise me with the end.  I was able to predict it easily.  But, other than that, I was pleased.

The Cover:

I borrowed this picture from Kate aka Midnight Book Girl.

There isn’t much I can say about the cover.  It is simplistic and not much to it, but I do like it. It is a really nice cover and with our main girl Samantha Mather.  I like the blues that were chosen.  Oooh and that title, it’s so creepy looking. In a good way though 😉

I recommend How to Hang A Witch to anyone who likes the Paranormal or Young Adult books.  If you like History thrown in then Adriana’s book is for you as well.  I was addicted and when my daughter heard some of the Audio Book, she said she would love to hear it all.  Of course only being 10, I told her there are parts I would not like her to listen to as there is some cussing in it.  😮  Now that I finished the audio, I am definitely buying a physical copy to keep in my collection of favorites.  If you would love to listen or read this book, I listed both links to Audible and Amazon below.

Thanks for reading you guys. Stay awesome and keep on reading!
