Wow… just Wow. I thought Portia’s last 3 books were full of drama and surprises but she really went all out in book four.
***Caution, Major spoilers of book 3 ***
Well, we thought Cal/Chris’s story was done after book 3, but of course Portia had other plans. Book 4 goes back to when Collin was outed. Chris remembers his dad’s betrayal and Cal realizes that his father never killed his real mother. He did it himself. Cal is broken. Chris is basically comotose. He just sleeps and never does anything. Lauren, Mrs. Scott… everyone is worried. I mean, can you blame him though? He just found out his real father is Mr. Crestfield Sr, Cal’s best friend Dexter is actually his half brother. He also discovered he killed his real mother and his adoptive father is a cheating husband who fathered a daughter with his mistress who is also Chris’s best friend Lisa. Geez, I would be broken too.
When you’re heartbroken, it lies beneath everything that you do. It’s in all of who you are. Foreshadows who you’ll be.
It hides underneath your smile, rests between your laugh, revels in your tears and taunts your every thought. You wish it away but are too terrified to let it go….
When Cal first disappeared I swore my heart had broken, and before all of this is over I swear it will shatter into pieces.
Best part of Portia’s books is that they are all in different perspectives. Lauren, Cal, Chris and Collin. I want to know what everyone is thinking. We mainly have Collin now though. His main goal is intergration. To have Chris become one person, not three. Collin is the nuetral one, the one that doesn’t react out of love or anger. It all changes with all the time he spends with Lauren. There is so much turmoil and confusion for all parties, it’s hard to figure out what the final outcome will be. Out of all the books, Shattered Pieces is the most heart wrenching and dramatic one. I could not put it down! I never realized how much has happened in between from book three’s ending. I recommend everyone read this series. You won’t be disapointed. It’s a romance unlike any other.
